Poppy Goes to Paris–A Recap
This years theme for the Poppy Parker collection by David Buttry hit a chord with many collectors. I know it hit this collector right in the wallet. I absolutely adored it and can’t wait to see what David has in store for us Poppy collectors at the Integrity Toys convention in October. While we wait for convention, I thought it would be fun to get a group shot of the Poppys we have enjoyed so far this year. Since Poppy is in Paris, I drew inspiration from one of the most iconic Parisian fashion houses of all time…Dior.

Defiant Rayna
Ok, so each year at Integrity Toys convention there are design competitions. The person who wins the judges award for the advanced design competition at the convention has the option of having their design actually produced. Integrity Toys started doing this a couple of years ago as a perk to entering the design competition. This past year, the winner of this award was Jason Kramer. His design was a combination of street grunge and haute couture. Not easy to do folks but he managed to meld it into a cohesive and stylish design. Interesting to note…this was Jason’s first Integrity Toys convention. This is not, however, his first foray into designing. He is Artistic Director and Lead Designer at a costume design company that specializes in custom made dance wear. Jason, we are so glad you came to your first convention!! We hope you return!

Magnifique is Fantastique
When I saw the name on this doll I kept singing the words from a song in “Devil Wears Prada”…”Supersonic, maginfique, tres tres cool and tres tres chic”.
She is definitely tres, tres chic. the hair color is vibrant and beautiful. It needs to be trained a bit when you take it out of the hair net but not too bad (it was packed with hair off to the side so you will need to push it or train it down to sit down against the neck).

The promo shot shows her as this…
What arrived was…I believe…better than the promos but with one caveat.
She has a very sharp look to the left eye placement that frankly…borders on “wonky eye” for my taste. I have photographed her at her best advantage but I had to work at it. Not sure how I am feeling about that. She is gorgeous. Coloring and facial color screening is spot on. Dress is beautiful and jewelry is beyond…really beyond. But…that far to the left stare is looking slightly wrong for me. Not sure what I am going to do yet. Maybe it’s just mine so will be interested to hear what others are experiencing.

Singing in the Rain
Trying to photograph things in natural light in the Pacific Northwest is pretty much a crap shoot even on a good day. Last week, we enjoyed days and days of 90 degree weather and loads of sunshine. This week it’s 62 and what else…rain. I would have shot this last week, if I had had what I wanted to shoot last week. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive the item I wanted to shoot until this week. Here was my perfect location…
Loved the natural texture of this and the green moss that spindled out like vines. But…
It was rather wet.
And not looking like it was going to change any time soon. So what do you do? You change your shoot location and make the best of it. So this is the rain part of the title so where is the singing?
Have you ever had that moment when you dressed a doll in something and it just “sang”? You know what I mean right? It just makes you go “ Oh man…that looks so amazing on her!” I had that happen this week and while my first choice for background did not pan out, I found a couple alternate solutions that worked out just fine. I was still singing even though it was raining.

This gown is gorgeous! Very well made and tailored. It arrived quickly and well packaged. Love this vendor on Etsy and have purchased a number of things from them.

Naughty or Nice?
Ok, I have to explain the title a bit. As you all know, I am a huge fan of Poppy Parker and her creator David Buttry. For me, she was the gateway drug from Barbie to Integrity Toys. I realize I need a 12 step program for my addiction but I’m not ready to commit to the program just yet. ![]()
Recently, Integrity Toys held a lottery to purchase two beautiful Poppy Parkers and I was lucky and incredibly thrilled to be picked to purchase not just Miss Amour but the fabulous Powder Puff Poppy Parker as well. I have to thank my daughter for the opportunity as it was her membership that won it and she willingly handed over the option to purchase. Collectors are receiving these dolls and posting some amazing images. This doll is so sweet. Mostly she is portrayed as “nice” and I like it that way.
For these images, however, I decided to portray her in a slightly different way. David Buttry had mentioned in his webinar announcing the Bon Bon Collection that one of his inspirations for this particular doll was the movie “Valley of the Dolls”. I decided to go a little more with that theme. So Poppy comes off as a bit more on the naughty side in these pictures. I want to point out however..that Chip has appeared to have “put a ring on it” at least.

Emerging Rebel Kyori – Will The Eyes Have It?
The first doll of Integrity Toys’ Fashion Royalty “A Delicate Bloom” Collection is starting to hit collectors’ doorsteps. Her name is Emerging Rebel Kyori and true to her name she is entering the collecting world with some controversy. The title of this blog post is kind of a play on words. When you vote to pass a measure for something the verbiage is always, “Those in favor say ‘AYE’“ and if there are more yes’s than no’s the motion passes or “The Aye’s have it.” There is a current issue being voted on by collectors of Integrity Toys and it’s all about the eyes.
Let me explain: Integrity Toys is trying out a new process with the eyes on some of their dolls. Instead of painting the inner eyes (outline, white, iris, pupils and "catch light" dots) they are using water decals. Per IT, the reasoning for going to these decals was to offer more consistency in eye placement and facial screening. (Too many “wonky eye” issues with the previously used methods.) Some collectors are concerned about the durability and quality of these decals. Given all the concerns, I was curious to see for myself if there were negative aspects to these decals from an aesthetic perspective as well as a photography perspective. I was concerned as to whether or not these decals would make the eyes appear more “dead” in a photograph. If something is too matte, it won’t reflect light effectively and gives off a dead appearance. On the other side, if something is too shiny (especially the eyes) it can create too much of a reflection that you have to clean up in Photoshop afterwards… and… that is a big pain in the back side, believe me. Who wants to spend hours in post-process just because of shiny eyes? Not me.
So… I was curious to see what would happen when I photographed one of these dolls with these decal eyes. What did I find?
1. From an aesthetic aspect… just looking at her… I wasn’t noticing anything concerning. Her screening is appealing and I think she is a pretty doll. The eyes don’t stand out as odd or off in any way. She does have a very far “to the side” eyeball placement and some are finding that fact unappealing. I can understand this. That doesn’t work for everyone.
2. From a photography stand point… there are some differences.
First and foremost, the eyeball is printed not painted so there are dots of color not continuous color. Is this a problem? Not normally in my opinion. As you see this image on your computer screen or phone, you are seeing it as dots of color as well — they are just really, really small dots. Let’s face it, most of us are not going to be looking at this doll under a microscope.
Can you see the dots in the picture above? Maybe a little but not much. Our eyes and brains are really good at melding those dots together to make it look like one cohesive color.
Secondly, I’m not going to lie — these decals catch the light differently, so when photographing, that needs to be factored in. Is this a deal breaker? For me, not really. It’s just something different. Now, as to whether these decals will hold up over time… only time will tell that one. For now, I am willing to give them a chance. For now, I’m voting “aye”.
Enough about the eyes — let’s talk about the accessories and dress! I love this dress!!! It is so elegant and fits her beautifully. The lavender shoes are perfection and the grey glasses and oversized bag are refined and chic. I don’t know who is taking over jewelry at IT but all I can say is, “Keep it going!!” The earrings and bracelet are a new design and I adore them.
Kyori’s hair color was described as medium brown in product write-ups. Have we seen Kyori with these lighter brown tresses before? I like it.

J’Adore Miss Amour
The title speaks for itself. When I first saw this doll my reaction was this…
And..that has not changed upon receiving her. She is EVERYTHING I was hoping for and more. David, I bow down!

A Picnic in Paris
Now that Integrity Toys has announced their collections and all of our collector wallets are sad and limping, I thought it was time to return to Paris for some fun. If I was returning to Paris, Ms. Poppy was going to join me. This new “Ooh La La” Poppy Parker is my current muse and I am loving the giftset mix and match options.
You have to love rement!

2016 Integrity Toys – The <3 MLP™ Collection
Yes indeedy. Integrity Toys has obtained licensing through Hasbro to bring you a collection inspired by favorite My Little Pony characters. Now…I am going to admit right off the bat… I was never a collector of my little pony. They were after my time. My daughter, however, was a huge fan. Even though I may not be in the market to collect or purchase this collection, I can appreciate the time and though that went into it. Jessy Ayala is a new designer with Integrity Toys and this is his first full collection with the company. As I listened to the thought and attention he brought to each and every item, I was extremely impressed. Well done Jessy!
Things you need to know if you want to buy:

Ooh La La Indeed!!
The WClub Poppy Parker Exclusive arrived just after I returned from Barbiecon a few weeks ago. As with most conventions, I have spent the last couple of weeks going through my acquired treasures and getting over “The convention cold”. When you put around 1,000 people together in a ballroom for multiple events, and these same people get on average 4-5 hours of sleep a night…there is bound to be illness. So… now I am on the mend, I managed to snap some images of this new Poppy Parker and get them ready for the blog.

This one comes to this collector WAY better than the promo shots promised. And the promo shots were pretty darn good. She is simply stunning! Love, Love, Love her.
Love the accessories with this giftset! Lot’s of mix and match options.
I recently had a new logo designed for my main photography business and wanted to try it out on some of the doll shots too. Not too bad
Thank you Daniel at Photologo!!
For those of you awaiting the beginning of the series of posts on the blogging and doll photography presentation I did at Barbiecon…fear not. It should be up starting this Friday, August 19th. For those of you who did attend the class, the images in this post were taken using the “light bouncing” technique I talked about.

You have to love these giftsets and check out the dual stand!! I have not seen that before. I am completely digging the case with this one too. Very chic and elegant. I adore the sleek platinum blond ponytails and red, red lips. I am also a big fan of the cream skin tone and it looks like Agnes has it for this set. Hope to see these girls sometime before the end of the year. Integrity Toys thanked Jason and Vaughn for this offering in their release email . This collector thanks them too!
And…because we have sisters for the giftset…just had to add this, sorry, couldn’t help myself.
Get ready folks…Poppy Parker “right to buy” lotteries will be right around the corner!

A New Muse
Last week, Integrity Toys and David Buttry gave us an amazing Poppy Collection. In the same week I received, from SeloJSpa, my latest repaint from Jon Copeland-Childers. The second I opened this one up, I knew I was going to be obsessed for a while. Jon, I don’t know how you do it, but you continue to surprise, delight and amazing me. Since David Buttry left me dreaming of Poppy Parker in Paris, I simply couldn’t wait to take her there.

Gloves: Poppy Parker black gloved hands

The eyes in this image are almost reptilian. I took the shot and just went whoah…that’s a cover.

Collectors Welcome “The Industry”
At last years IT convention, David Buttry revealed a new product line of dolls called “The Industry”. This product line is 1/6 Tullabelle. I am so excited about this line because I have always loved Tullabelle but don’t collect the the larger scale dolls. Now I can get that look in the scale that I do collect. Integrity Toys explained that this line will be “a lighthearted street-influenced collection with a mix of vintage and new. “ It was also stated that this Tullabelle will have friends later on this year too so we will be seeing more. Can’t wait!
This 12 inch Tullabelle is “the debut of a brand new, ultra-versatile body sculpt”. She is 12 1/4 inches tall and smaller busted like Nu.Face. IT has stated that there are new removable bottom leg portions on this doll that will enable collectors to change them out so the models can wear flat shoes as opposed to heels. Nice! It was also mentioned that this lady may..in fact…be able to wear Barbie shoes as well. Love it! She is available for preorder through Integrity Toys dealers.

The boots!!! The boots!!! I also love the ash blond hair. While most of my collection is vintage couture based, I am looking forward to exploring this product line and am purchasing this doll. I also think it’s fun that David Buttry gets to expand his design repertoire with this product line. I adore his Poppy Parker designs and I am sure I will enjoy this new collection as well. I also really like the fact that Integrity Toys is listening to their customers and continues to give more flexibility and options for the redressing collector community.

Her facial screening has been updated. The eyes are new for this edition. It’s very similar to the screening on their 16 inch Poppy’s…so much so that this collector thought it was a 16 inch Poppy when I first saw the photos. Her ingénue look is gone but then, Poppy is getting older so it tracks that she should get a more mature look. In my opinion, this screening works. I was not a fan of the harder, harsher screening of the IFDC Poppy’s or the convention Poppy’s from 2014. This screening…me likes! The Platinum hair..me also likes. However, I believe collectors are really hoping to see some variations other than blonde from Integrity this year. I also noticed that this Poppy is getting a “numbered certificate”. When did Poppy start getting certificates like the FR/FR2 ladies? Did I miss it last year or is this the first?
There are a number of mix and match possibilities here and that purse/tote is too cute. Don’t even get me started on the adorable shoes…you had me at the wedge shoes David…you had me at the wedges. Merci Beaucoup!!! ![]()

A Passion for Pink
This title should be a weekly entry at Inside the Fashion Doll Studio…maybe it will be now that I have said it. I recently discovered the beautiful work of Antonio Realli and was very pleased to add one of his recent collection pieces to my ever growing 1/6 clothing hoard.
For those diorama artists out there, the flooring I used in these shots is a new contact paper I used found here. I love that it is super shiny like real marble. Love the reflection it gives of the gown! We are finally starting to get some sunshine in the Pacific Northwest. The forecast for the next week is SUNNY!! I will be taking advantage and photographing many projects.
Some of you have already noticed that I have started an Instagram account ( see sidebar to the right just under archives). Feel free to follow me there for sneaks of upcoming items or additional photos of some behind the scenes stuff. It’s my goal to post something daily there. A goal….to be reached at some point in the future. ![]()

Poppy Parker Live from the Oscars Red Carpet!
Every time the Oscars roll around, I feel compelled to do some kind of red carpet or Oscar themed shoot. I have done Barbie getting dressed in her closet. I’ve done Barbie on her way to presenting the Oscar. I’ve done Barbie on the red carpet. I have yet to do any Integrity Toys, Inc products for the Oscar night festivities. Well…I’m going to fix that right now! Poppy Parker is going to the Oscars!

Add, Mix and Stir!!
Integrity Toys and their WClub just announced the first release of 2016. It’s a capsule collection entitled “In The Mix” and it will certainly stir many collectors’ imaginations and open quite a few wallets and/or break bank accounts. According to IT’s marketing director, Alain Trembley, this Color Infusion offering was inspired by today’s music industry. It’s a smart, sexy street style of a capsule collection with lots of opportunities to mix and match within this or other collections.

Two things….two….pink jacket and thigh high black leather boots. Enough said.
For those of you not familiar with the Color Infusion line of dolls from Integrity Toys, they are 1/6 scale 12.5 inch fashion dolls. They differ from FR2, Nu.Face and Poppy in that their body type has different proportions and the foot size is larger. I am clarifying this because some of the clothing can be used on other 1/6 body types and some cannot. Their shoes are generally too big for other 1/6 dolls.
WHERE TO BUY: List of Integrity Toys dealers is here. WClub members had this information a full day ahead of this posting so if you are at all interested, I suggest you contact a dealer sooner rather than later. These items will be hot sellers.
Honestly, this collection has floored me. I am not and have not been a Color Infusion collector. I have seen this product line since it’s inception and it never really appealed to me….until now. It feels like they have taken this product line and elevated it about 5 levels. This is the hip urban street style that the Nu.Face line used to have. This is, I feel, the sassy fashion profile that collectors had been wanting to see but had not seen lately from Integrity. Thank you for listening I.T.!!! For the first time ever, I am contemplating dipping a toe in Color Infusion products. Vaughn Sawyer led the design team on this one. Mr. Sawyer, I tip my hat to you.
The Power of Pink!!
Actually, I wanted to title this blog post “The power of pink, a new frock and a little bit of sunshine” , but it would have been too long. When you live in the Pacific Northwest and it’s the dead of winter ( which means rain people…lots and lots of rain), if one ray of sunshine peaks out, you are grabbing your camera and saying “What can I take a photo of!!” Or maybe…that’s just me. Yes I am seeing someone about my random photo tendencies when in the presence of intermittent sunshine LOL!
So, recently I took ownership of this adorable little dress from Hilda of Bellissima Couture. To me this dress just makes me happy. It’s pink yumminess with a hat. Also, it gave me a chance to use a new model in the studio..Ms. IT Airways Poppy Parker. She came with a pair of hands with white gloves ( Thank you David!!) so I knew I had to use them in a photo. I know by reading the WClub boards that a number of people were less than pleased with how the hair came out for their Poppy’s. Mine was not the best when she arrived but a very thoughtful and gifted group of souls on the WClub talked some of us through what they did to fix their Poppy’s hair. It worked like a dream on mine. If you are a WClub member and want to see the tutorial, head over to the WClub forum and look under IT Airways Poppy. My “thanks” to the contributors!
She is a young Anna Wintour here. The hat did not come with the dress. It is a floral scrapbooking embellishment. The pink pearl necklace is one I made.
