You Look So Fine Erin
Oh M…er..Erin you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind hey M…er Erin, Hey Erin. I have to admit this song was kind of going through my mind as I typed out the name of this doll. Guess that shows my age, yes, I was and still am to some degree a teenager of the 80’s. This lovely Erin is no child of the 80’s. She if a full on fashion diva of the present. Her dress is TO DIE FOR folks..worth the doll alone in my opinion but I digress. This is the last Erin produced with this original face mold. She has been given a facelift and we will see her new visage IRL when the first W Club doll ships sometime this summer. Many people are not fans of the “open mouth show us those pearly whites” face mold. I don’t have a problem with it. It kind of makes her look sweet and innocent. Her fashion is anything but. I have to admit, I was trepidatious about photographing this lady in THIS gown sitting down but I went there.
**Photography note for those wanting to photograph this lady in her original outfit or any doll in this dress for that matter**. Try to lean this baby up against a wall if you can. What I learned during this photo shoot:
1. Armature wire isn’t going to work because most of her leg shows with this gown but hey..if you want to spend countless hours Photoshopping the wire out..have at it.
2. Thought about leaning her back against a block or something sturdy but short…Nope. The skirt of the dress is pretty sheer so you will see whatever you put back there
3. Thought I was smart using strings to suspend her…WRONG!! I failed to realize the folds in the fabric and the impact they would have on Photoshopping out the strings. BAD ME! Yep…had to spend the thankless hour and a half Photoshopping out the strings then cloning back in the folds on the background for the roughly 20 full standing shots of this set…AAAACCCCKKKK. Note to Rebecca: When using complicated backdrop DO NOT USE STRINGS!!
4. The above mentioned reasons should explain why I then had to sit this lady down. Yes, I realize that she is getting dangerously close to performing a Sharon Stone Basic Instinct but it was either that or learn to embrace Photoshop as a way of life.
Okay, enough of me whining about my inability to think ahead LOL…on to the photos.
And…just because this was a rocker wedding and I don’t think Erin would have attended alone.
**A Note to all you pinners out there on Pinterest. If you are pinning photos from a slideshow embedded in someone’s blog….PLEASE DON’T! I am suspending showing all the shots of a set via slideshow because people are pinning photos from the slideshow and it will send people to my skydrive instead of the blog when they click on the photo. I really, really don’t want people surfing around my skydrive so until I can figure out a way to prevent people from pinning off of the slideshows/skydrive….no more slideshows. Other than that…Pin to your hearts content. I love that you enjoy the photos enough to pin and share them.

In Honor Of…
Today is Memorial Day in the United States.
“Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War. (Southern ladies’ organizations and southern schoolchildren had decorated Confederate graves in Richmond and other cities during the Civil War, but each region had its own date. Most dates were in May.) By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. As a marker it typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.” –Wikipedia

Romain and Lilith…The Rock Wedding
After the stress of Romain’s coiffure, I was ready to have some fun so I went all soft and dreamy with the set. I was thinking it would be fun to have all this softness in the background and all the edginess in the dolls out front. I have had a number of friends comment that they were surprised I ordered this set…they are not what I typically collect. I was surprised myself how much these dolls appealed to me. I have to say my camera and I are IN LOVE with this trio of dolls. I adore the versatility of Lilith’s gift set. She has so many different looks and I can’t wait to start redressing. Romain aka lettuce boy , hair not withstanding, is just way cool. Love the square jaw and angles on this guy. From a photography standpoint, there are lots of angles to work with on his face…he will have a different look depending on how you light him and from what angle…lots of options. I would imagine that Romain and Lilith would not have the traditional wedding even though that is what the set and these photos would suggest.
And my favorite shot from the set
Erin’s turn is next…always the bridesmaid and never the bride…will have to see what we can do about that ![]()
Rock Steady Romain
I keep looking at his name and hoping I am spelling it correctly. My husband has taken to calling him affectionately “lettuce boy”. He has a reason to gripe as I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to style and photograph this guy and my husband has had to listen to it LOL. Let’s face the facts folks..he came out of the box with clumpy and uninspired hair. Certainly not what the promo’s promised but I prefer to look at it as a challenge…so like a dog with a bone…I set to work. I know I didn’t hit the mark of the look of the promo shots but I am happy with the doll and photos. I think he is handsome and love the face sculpt. Just wish I had a smidge more bang length and I am too much of a wimp to reroot.
If you want a little taste of what I was listening to during this photo shoot and post processing, check out the playlist on the right hand side of the blog .
Rocking Ever After Lilith
For those of you who ordered her, you are in for a treat. For those of you who passed on this one, you may want to rethink. This lady is drop dead gorgeous and came right out of the box ready to be photographed. While Romain needed significant hair care before being ready for his close-up, Lilith was picture perfect within minutes of deboxing.
LOVE HER!!!
Rock Fashion Wedding Dolls Are on the Way!
Just received my shipping notice. Hope to have photos to share in the next couple of days. Just to tide us over, I am sharing the slideshow I did again…
Lilith …The Muse.
Many collectors and photographers have favorite dolls or models that inspire them. I have a few “go to” girls that never seem to disappoint me. No matter what I dress them in or how I style them, I always come away with some keeper photos. My restyled Lilith is one of my muses. Here is one set I pulled from the archives to post on the blog. For those of you who follow my Flickr, you may have already seen these photos. I thought they were worth a relook.
Wishing all you Mom’s out there a wonderful Mother’s Day!

I am always amazed at how Diana and Janet of La Boutique manage to reproduce high end handbags in 1/6 scale. The purses of the month for April 2012 were inspired by Valentino and I am absolutely enthralled.

Dark Swan Elise dons a day suit
Now try to say the title of this post five times quickly {snort}. I almost made the title “To my props…How do I love thee, let me count the ways.” I seem to be using these busts quite a bit but oh well. People often ask me about the lighting I use in my photos and I thought it would be fun to show these photos because the shots that came out the best ( In my opinion, and that of my partner in crime and in house tech support…the husband) are actually the ones that used the least light. They used the least number of photography lights but were placed in such a way as to add drama and texture to the shot. I am forever changing lights around as I shoot something because I want to see what else I can get to come out on film. I love how the low lighting shows off the angles on the face of this Elise. I will also admit to adding some vignetting on the full length shot.

First WClub Exclusive Doll for 2012 is announced….There is a Nu.Face in Town!
The Integrity Toys WClub announced their first club doll for 2012 last week. Her name is “High End Envy” Erin and she is a stunner. There is plenty to envy here folks. What can I say….always a sucker for redheads. She is a character from Integrity’s Nu.Face line and they have “refreshed” the Erin face mold for this one. So far the feedback on the boards is positive. Two big thumbs up from Inside The Fashion Doll Studio. She has two brunette hair streaks on the sides of her head…not sure how I am liking that but will keep an open mind until I see her in real life. Loving the edgy look for this 2012 collection and love the pouty red mouth on this lady. I completely adore the chunky square black ring in the accessories. Delivery is slated for this summer.
** following three photos are property of Integrity Toys**
And …it would appear that the Nu.Face line for 2012 is getting it’s inspiration from the Gucci Spring 2012 RTW collection

Silkstone Holy Grails–Addendum
A friend has just reminded me (Thank you Jim!!) of a limited “holy grail” Silky that I forgot to mention in my previous post. She is the Raven Debut Silkstone given to attendees of The Paris Fashion Doll Festival in 2009. So… there actually was another Silkstone given at a convention .
Barbie Debut Brunette ( although she is more commonly referred to as the raven haired debut.)
Edition size: 354 ( source: http://www.dollexpo.fr/dollexpo/archivesfestivals.htm)
Isn’t she lovely! Lucky convention attendees too…they were in Paris AND have this lovely keepsake from the event.
Integrity Toys 2012 Reveal….the aftermath
Well, a week has gone by and those in the Fashion Royalty collecting world are still absorbing the massive amount of new eye candy that was displayed at the Integrity Toys webinar. I think it is safe to say that Integrity blew many collectors socks off with their new offerings for 2012. Evidence of that is clear…dealers have sold out preorders on many products already. Another factor in the early sold out status this year were lower edition sizes and smaller allotments to a growing number of dealers. This resulted in many collectors being told “ sorry, we are sold out of the doll you ordered.” Very frustrating! I would imagine it is a tough road to walk for Integrity and its dealers. A business would want to keep edition sizes low to decrease excessive inventory for their dealers while helping to maintain value for their customers. It’s that low supply/ high demand economics 101 again. A business also has to satisfy its customer and it would appear that many of Integrity’s loyal customers were left wanting in this last round of preorders. Finding the right edition size is not an exact science and I do believe there is something to be said for leaving your customers always wanting for more….but you don’t want to starve them right? I just can’t help but wonder if perhaps they guessed a little low with their numbers this time around. I managed to procure everything that I wanted through my amazing dealer ( Love ya Barb!)…but I really feel for those who were not able to get what they wanted and I feel for the dealers who had to disappoint many of their loyal customers because they simply did not have the allotments to satisfy demand. Where is the happy medium??
Yes Integrity…you have that good of a collection for 2012….hope you have not lost some collectors with the stingy edition sizes this year.
Here were my favorites for this latest 2012 reveal.![]()
I am not saying I ordered all of these….but I’m not saying I didn’t either ![]()
The Kyori gift set was the definite winner if current doll board feedback and the speed with which it sold out is any indication.
Some other early preorder sellouts were the Nu.Face Lillith and Eden gift set and Giselle, Fashion Royalty’s Adele and FR2’s Tatyana. The Mod Poppy Parker line sold out on preorders in …I swear….nano seconds.
After a new collection comes out, I always find it fascinating to research and see comments from others on fashions that may have inspired the collection designs. Obviously Jason Wu’s designs will be an inspiration but I am pleased to see that other designers works are favored as well. I wish I could take credit for the sleuthing on these and finding all of them but I cannot. I found a number of these from the very observant and talented members of the WClub forum.
First up is Kyori pictured above….it looks like the skirt portion of her evening gown was inspired by Zac Posen’s Spring 2012 RTW
Another of Zac Posen’s designs may have inspired FR2’s Ayumi as well…
The collection Adele may have gotten inspiration from Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 RTW
Adele’s accessories were definitely inspired…. ![]()
by McQueen 2012 Spring RTW and Louis Vuitton Spring 2012
Lilith and Eden Giftset clearly took some direction from Gucci’s 2012 Spring RTW
Dania looks to have been inspired by Integrity’s design captain Jason Wu – Spring 2012 RTW

Integrity Toys 2012 Reveal…AMAZING!!!
The word in the headline says it all….AMAZING!! One of the many reasons I enjoy being part of Integrity Toys WClub is the opportunity to join their webinar each year to see a presentation of what is to come for the entire year. They do not have a booth at toy fair. Instead they do a presentation for their dealers and collectors via the internet and I absolutely love that. Integrity have done this webinar for the past two years and I think it is a brilliant move. You don’t have to spend time and money to travel anywhere thus saving that money to instead buy product….smart business. You can sit in the privacy of your own home, in your PJ’s if you want, and see all the wonderful products lined up for the year and hear about the inspiration that went into them from the designers. You have to be a WClub member to attend . I know…I know…you don’t want to hear about it…you want to see it. ![]()

The Upper Echelon of Integrity Toy’s Monograms
** photo property of Integrity Toys, Inc. **
I have to admit….the original outfit on this one just didn’t do it for me personally. I know what a bubble skirt looks like on me ( NOT PRETTY!) and I just could not get past it on this doll. I love the black top, shoes and bag…the rest…. well…time to repurpose. On to the positives…. Love the face of soft color and the hair was a different style. I typically like most variations on an updo so the little curl this girl has in the back was just too adorable. Yes, the hair bump has been overused ,in my opinion, at Integrity this year but on this doll, I like it. Since the outfit wasn’t doing it for me, I had to find an appropriate replacement and inspiration struck while I was perusing the latest edition of Vogue. There is a wonderful spread highlighting the Ritz in Paris. I would absolutely die to have a backdrop of some of these rooms for my dolls. It’s the ultimate in style, I mean come on…Coco Chanel lived there! I saw one photo in this spread and it inspired me to do this shoot. Hope you like it.

The Monogram Exaggeration
Right off the bat, I have to say that the color palette on this offering from Integrity Toys is beautiful. The coral in the skirt and hat and the insane green of the gloves, shoes and bag are just way out cool. These”exaggerated” colors are not typically ones that are going to excite me and certainly not together but I love them on this doll. I like the fact that we have a soft color block dress paired with a solid navy structured jacket. I love that the outfit is punctuated with the frilly hat like an exclamation point at the end of this fashion sentence. The hat/feather fascinator looks different here than in the promos….I did some restyling and had to curl some feathers. I like the fuller look but it may not appeal to everyone. The whole package screams refinement and fun energy to me. This lady looks like she is stylish and strong. Let’s face it…it takes a strong fashionista to wear coral and acid green together…….
The “Allure” of Fashion Royalty Monograms
Allure….as a noun it means “ a highly attractive quality”. As a verb it means to “ attract powerfully”.
I have to admit….when I first saw this beautiful lady at the IDEX reveal….I was going to pass. The promo shots just did not do it for me. I felt the Marilyn Monroe vibe but the big cape was not something I was looking for. I decided to go ahead and buy her because I thought I could sell her if I didn’t like her when I got her. I am so glad I purchased her because she is one of those in real life ladies that blew the promo shots out of the water. As I was photographing this lady, I could not believe how well she translates on to film so I was even more surprised that the promo shots did not do this lady justice. She is fire and ice all the way. LOVE HER!
I feel honor bound to state that I was completely enabled and inspired by JennFL’s photos on Flickr of this lovely lady so please check out her photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jennfl/with/6865483260/
Revlon did a campaign in the 1950’s and I and others believe it was the inspiration behind this gorgeous lady and gown.

“Inspiration” for the First Day of Spring
When I saw the promo shots for this lady, I immediately emailed Barb of Windy City Dolls and said “Sign me up!” I don’t know if it was the updo or the frothy blue confection she was wearing that caught me but this was a no brainer for me. I love the ice cold silver and crystal jewelry she comes with. The dress is gorgeous and full and the shoes are so different…kind of like ballet shoes on wedges….if that makes any sense LOL!
My anticipation of this lovely lady fueled the photographer in me and I have been thinking….”How should I photograph this stunner?!” In the end, the time of year gave me inspiration and I decided the soft dress needed some springtime flora to accompany it and if I was going with the flora…I wanted dramatic reflection of the gown and flowers. So, to my trusty black acrylic floor I went. I decided to add a couple of my portable LED lights to my lighting set up and was very, very happy with the result. I hope you guys are too.
