A Romantic Era Concludes

All good things must come to an end.  Or…in my case…all sunny days in the garden eventually give way to rain.  I managed to get three separate photo shoots completed before the rain started so I am happy with that.  For the last installment of this romantic garden series I paired a favorite embroidered sheath from Bellissima Couture and a yummier than yummy coat from Lovetones.  The hat is a story.  It originally came from Bogue’s Vogues and I have to admit…I got creative with the Russian netting on this one.  Hope you all enjoy.

Model:  Lovtones Romantic Era Roxy

Dress:  Bellissima Couture

Coat :  Lovetones Timeless Show Roxy

Hat: Bogues vogues

Shoes:  Lovetones Romantic Era Roxy

Purse: Integrity Toys AKA Gigi Giselle

Accessories: the box, macaron and bag were all done by me.  The boxwood trees in planters were from Pier One.  The bench was found on Ebay.

I Believe in Fairytales!

©2017 Integrity Toys, Inc

If you were a W Club member this past weekend and attempted to get a coveted ticket into the Integrity Toys 2017 convention…you were definitely hoping for happy endings.  The event sold out even faster than last year…in just an hour to be precise.  Since spots were limited to 500, many were a little nervous about whether or not they would get in.  I know I was.  I am happy to report that this collector had a happy ending to her quest for a golden ticket.  Adding to the excitement of this event is the fact that it will be held in fairytale land itself…right next to Disneyland in Orlando, FL.  Double win in my book!  This event will take place October 18-21, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.  Registration fee is  $550.  If you are interested in attending, you can add your name to the waiting list here.

For this years convention, Integrity Toys continued a little perk they added last year for W Club members.  It’s a little taste of what will be coming to attendees in the convention collection.   Even if you are not attending the convention, you can participate in this opportunity.   This is a W Club exclusive.

The inspiration for this doll, as many have already reported, is clearly a 2011 Vogue Russia editorial.

A Romantic Era Begins

As we turn the corner into spring, I am in the mood for soft hazy imagery, pastels and florals.   A sunny day in the garden ( an absolute surprise in the Pacific Northwest in spring) led me to bring out a new  line of 1/6 fashion dolls I have been intrigued by since their debut.

Her name is “Romantic Era Roxy” and she was the prefect model for the next set of images I will be sharing on the blog this week.  Are we ready for some soft images to take us through the gloom of early Spring?  I know I am!

First Silkstone of 2017 Coming Soon

It looks like these images are up on the Barbie Collection website so I will share them here too.  The first Silkstone of 2017 will be available tomorrow!!  While I am not a fan of this articulated body, I still love the look of this first offering.

I find it very interesting that these images are available but no news on the Barbie Fan Club for 2017 is up and available yet.  Word is 03/31/2017.  Let’s just say, I will believe it when I see it.  In the mean time, there are images and a price point for this silkstone to mull over.

Love the redhead!  Love the suit and Hermes inspired Kelly bag.  The hat…hmmmm…will have to see.  Happy that this lady has earrings!  I have to be honest…I am shocked we don’t have any new information on the BFC yet…just some vague information that it would be coming out by 03/31/2017.  I will be adding this beauty to my collection, club or no club.

Ayumi is a Total Betty

The actual name for this doll is Totally Betty Ayumi.  If you have never watched the movie Clueless you may have missed the meaning of the reference.  Per the Online Slang Dictionary, the definition of Betty is

noun
  • an attractive female; "hottie".

Oddly enough, the citation for this definition is the movie Clueless.   Well..whether or not the movie coined this term and it’s meaning, this Ayumi is definitely a stunner.  The outfit she came in was perfect for the urban and hip look.  My collection runs more towards the elegant and sophisticated so I wanted to transform this current Ayumi with an outfit I had recently received.  I suspected she would fit into “elegant and sophisticated” without a problem….and I was right.  This also gave me a chance to use one of the amazing screens I recently picked up on Etsy.

Model and jewelry:  Totally Betty Ayumi

Shoes: FR2 shoe pack

Suit and faux fur: HOANG ANH KHOI on Etsy

Screen: Customdollhouse on Etsy

Tulips:  Available soon at ITFDS

I absolutely adore the soft facial screening on her!!  A number of collectors have said she bears a striking resemblance to Chrissy Teigan.  I can totally see that!

Sparkle Poppy Sparkle!

And sparkle she does!  I realized I had not given any love to this particular convention Poppy for well over a year.  Not good.  She was part of the 2015 IT convention collection.  Here she is in her original outfit and jewelry.  She is however, sporting a new set of hands that were a recent find on Ebay.

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio. Sparkle, Poppy, Sparkle!

Check out the teeny, tiny acrylic nails!!  I found them on Ebay.  Don’t know if this vendor offers them up regularly or if they were just a short term thing but this is where I got them.

Love the facial screening on this one.  While nails like this are not something I normally go for…I think they do add a very glamorous look to this Poppy.

Magnetism in Green

Nothing like a redhead in green!  For the next couple of months I will be going through some of my old portfolio for a future project and I will most likely be sharing some of those re-edits.  These will be some of my favorite shots from years past.  This will work in tandem with my Instagram  as I try to populate that account with some work from my previous catalogue of images.  I thought as it is St. Patrick’s day, it was a good day to kick off an ‘on theme’ post with a favorite set from the past.

Model and bracelet: Magnetism monogram from Integrity Toys

Dress, hat, earrings and purse: Randall Craig

Shoes:…for the life of me..can’t find the source.  **update** shoes are from Magnetism original doll.  Thank you Pauline!!!

Recklessness in the Studio!

I received the lovely dolls I ordered from the “Reckless” collection from my fabulous Integrity Toy’s dealer  this past week and I have to say…I am not disappointed at all.  The facial screenings are delightful and the fashions and accessories exceed expectations on most levels.  My only complaint is that the choker necklaces on both Ayumi and Erin needed to have adjustments.  On mine at least the choker was too tight a fit and I ended up adding another bigger jump ring so it would close around the neck.  I know some people are just popping the heads off and putting the necklace on but that seemed like too much work to me given how often I redress these models…so the jump ring was a good solution for me.

The braids were a surprise to me and apparently a lot of other collectors.  They didn’t show these in the promo shots so I made sure to showcase them in these pictures.  Definitely a Moschino influence with the burned edge bow.

Jessy Ayala did a marvelous job with the modern day “Clueless” inspired collection.  It’s young, its hip, it’s edgy and it also manages to be fun.  I am looking forward to photographing different looks.

I also ordered the Erin but did not get individual shots of her so I went ahead and did a group shot of the girls I did order.  I will be adding Lilith and hope upon all hope that I can add the Eden to.  Please shine down on me oh Lottery Gods.

Reckless Smoke and Mirrors

No…I’m not doing a current political climate op-ed.  WClub members woke up to some much anticipated and exciting news.  The highly anticipated lottery for Trouble Eden was announced.   That alone would have people anxious and excited.

©2016 Integrity Toys, Inc. Reckless collection

©2016 Integrity Toys, Inc. Trouble Eden

This was to be the final installment of the NU.Face™ Reckless collection….or so we thought.   Integrity Toys and the WClub kicked up the heat however with their lottery announcement by adding the mother of all ginsu cutting knife moments.

But Wait There’s  More!!

Many collectors were lamenting the fact that this Eden would be a lottery.  It appears that the WClub was listening because they offered up a consolation prize to beat all consolation prizes for lovers of the twins.  Yep…you guessed it, the WClub members were given the option to purchase ( purchase not another lottery!) a companion Lilith doll to this Eden…and she has left this collector with her jaw on the floor.

Integrity Toy’s “The Industry” 2017 Revealed

©2017 Integrity Toys, Inc

Integrity Toy’s made their first collection reveal to the newly minted 2017 WClub the other day and all I can say is Wow!  it’s a doozy!  As Dolce and Gabbana and many other designers are going to the so called millennials for inspiration and a new ad campaigns, David Buttry appears to be pulling from the same pool…at least with the fashions and accessories.

Millennials = consisting of individuals born between 1982 and 2004.

There have been a lot of positives and negatives written about Millennials.  I will stick with the positive.  It has been noted that they grew up in an electronics-filled and increasingly online and socially-networked world.  This helps to explain some of the many new and fabulous accessories that come with this collection.  Hope you enjoy.

Keep in mind that these offerings are available through Integrity Toys dealers and were announced to the WClub a few days a go.  If you want any of these …run don’t walk to try and get these.  Some may be sold out already.

Talk about updated hair!  This one is an early favorite for many collectors.  She comes with sandals and boots and while I love the accessories, I am not loving the dress on this one.  It seems way too dowdy for this doll.  She needs edgy and hip in my opinion not docile little school girl.  The doll though with half flocked and half pink tresses…fabulousness!  **note** This doll is articulated at the ankle. The other dolls are not.

These accessories!!!  A MUST have.  As to the question…”Will Rebecca buy a doll just for the accessories?”.  Well…yes she will.  I do also like the look of this doll but he is very similar to the Ace McFly doll they produced a couple of conventions ago.  I’m still getting him though as the girls and guys in my collection need their makeup artist .Winking smile

David Buttry and his team did an amazing job with this first full scale ‘The Industry” collection.  The accessories alone make this capsule collection worth a look-see.  My only complaint is that…there is a WHOLE lot of black going on here.  It would be nice to see more color coming in.  And also on the subject of black, there was also an absence of it…as in skin tone.  I would have liked to have seen an AA model in this lineup.  There are, however, a whole lot of mix and match pieces that will be fun to pair with other outfits in my collection and I look forward to being the mini stylist with those and sharing on the blog.  I can definitely see my Out of Sight Nadja in many of these outfits.

Again…these dolls are available through Integrity Toys dealers only.  Feel free to click on the link to find them.

OOAK Doll Festival–A Huge Thank You!!

One hundred collectors of One of a Kind fashion dolls congregated in New York City for an amazing event.  It was the first event of it’s kind and it has left this attendee with a huge sense of gratitude and respect for my fellow collectors.

First and foremost, I have to thank Rocky Schmidt and his incredible team of festival organizers.  This event was simply amazing.  From the moment we registered to the last evenings dinner and doll presentation, it was a beautifully produced and orchestrated event.  We all ate, drank and were very merry indeed.  Because of the small intimate nature of this festival, you felt like you were attending a family reunion.  Collectors of specialized one of a kind fashion dolls gathered from all over the world and although we live in different areas, we were all connected through the love of this particular sub genre of collecting.

While it’s always nice to get some nice ‘swag’ at events, I would say the bulk of enjoyment for most at this event were the people.  It’s the enjoyment of being with people who collect exactly what you collect.  This convention celebrated in particular the artistry and design of two very well respected and admired OOAK artistic teams…Magia 2000 and Ninimomo.  It was a festival that celebrated their artistry and love for this specialized craft .

For me personally, this event had special significance. Firstly,  It offered up an opportunity to collaborate on a project with some of my closest friends who work in this 1/6 scale medium.  I have long admired and respected Hilda and Rogier’s work.  Just to be a part of this team that produced the Laduree diorama was something I am so honored to be a part of.

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

It was also an honor to  donate a few items to the talented collaborators of Hilda Westervelt of Bellissima Couture and Maryann Roy of Welcome Home and their centerpiece doll design.

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

Besides the festival itself, there were a number of top favorites from the trip.

#1 I got to go to one of my favorite places with a few of my favorite people.©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

#2 I got to see Rogier enjoy his first NYC hot dog from a stand!

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

#3 I got to experience the garment district with the master…Hilda

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

#4 And…I got to enjoy an amazing dinner with some great friends…old and new

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

And…last but not least, I got to enjoy the city with my husband and daughter ( wish my son could have joined….darn those college classes)

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

To cap off the whole week of festivities, a number of us from the festival were able to attend a performance of Hamilton!!  And it was an opportunity to meet up with in-laws and give a lovely sister-in-law the opportunity to see the show of her heart…on Broadway!  That made it all the sweeter.

©2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

So…Rocky and Team…from this blogger of fashion dolls…a HUGE Thank you for the memories and events of a lifetime.

OOAK Doll Festival–Saturday Night Dinner

After the excitement of the mornings design challenge, festival attendees had lunch on their own and an afternoon to shop some more in the sales room or have some well deserved free time.  We were all anticipating the final evening event of the festival – The Diamond Jubilee diner featuring a tribute to Ninimomo.  The super talented Ninimomo team of Nik Moronese  and Marie Lebreton shared a fun video of their design process and a tribute to their loyal fans.

Then it was time to vote, judge and announce the winner of the “Make your own OOAK” design challenge.

OOAK Doll Festival–Saturday’s design challenge

Saturday morning dawned with a new challenge for festival attendees.  Our design challenge was to embellish a simple black dress.  Here is what we all started with.  A HUGE shout out to Judy O’Connell of Aponi Designs who donated all the accessory sets for this event.  Wow Judy!!!  You rock!

There was also a centerpiece doll at this event that 10 lucky attendees walked away with.  She was designed by the talented duo of Hilda Westervelt of Bellissima Couture and Maryann Roy of Welcome Home.  I donated a couple of accessories to their fabulous creation.

20170207IMGL6184

With so much creativity and talent in that room…this event was sure to please.  It did not disappoint.  I had a whole lot of respect for the attendees of this festival going in but after this event…I was blown away by the talent in the room.  It was an honor just to be a part of it.

We were all given a pick of a variety of accessory sets.  These were just too cute for words.  I picked the grey.

unspecified6VRPEC2T

And a variety of materials to use in our embellishing.

unspecifiedKM7UD4Z3

unspecifiedOG6MIST1

And people could bring items that they brought from home or had purchased at Mood and M&J Trimming the previous day.  It was Project Runway workroom…times 10…and it was fabulous.  Mario of Magia 2000 and many other judges were there to offer encouragement, guidance and a “Tim Gun” comment if needed.

It was a fun room of designers all following their own vision.  A creativity extravaganza!  How glorious!

After a few hours of embellishing, the judges walked around and selected roughly 20 designs that would compete for the winner of the “Make your own OOAK” competition.  There was some serious talent in that room people.

Here are some of the designs that moved on to the final round of competition.

Do you have a favorite?  The winner would be voted on and announced at the evenings dinner.  Anticipation was very high for this event.

OOAK Doll Festival–Friday Dinner

After the sales room frenzy of Friday afternoon, many attendees headed to Mood Fabric in the garment district and if they had time, stopped off at M&J Trimming.  I did not attend that outing but many did and had a marvelous time.

The evening event was the Platinum Party Dinner where we all paid tribute to the amazing and creative talents of Gianni Grossi and Mario Paglino who make up the stellar team of Magia 2000.  Here they are with Rocky Schmidt the fabulous organizer of this truly one of a kind festival.

©2017 Jenny Kim OOAK Doll Festival

There was a table centerpiece…which all of us wanted but only 10 lucky ducks won.  Yours truly and her blogging cohort Rogier…were not lucky ducks this evening Sad smile

There was also a collection of Magia 2000 creations that were brought and shared by various attendees.  It was such a treat to see so many beautiful creations from Magia 2000 past collections.  Wish I had time to photograph all of them in the studio!

Once you stopped salivating over the Magia’s…it was time to vote on your favorite “unconventional material” OOAK dolls.  Each attendee was given a ticket to vote on their favorite Magia and their favorite unconventional material doll.

There were many creative entries for unconventional materials.  In the end…Rogier was 2nd runner up for his masterful concoction.  The winner of the competition was an adorable whimsical design and excellent use of pastel confetti material!

OOAK Doll Festival–Friday’s Day Events

Friday started with a new and interesting activity.  The Unconventional Materials Challenge.  Attendees were challenged to create a OOAK dress using things you don’t normally use in couture.  Think, plastic, food, paper etc.…  We all started with the same basic white short sheath.

©2017 Jenny Kim OOAK Doll Festival

We were given a couple of hours to creative a OOAK using these unconventional materials.  I have to be honest…this is not in my wheelhouse but let me just tell you…this was definitely in Rogier’s wheelhouse and many other attendees.

See the master at his craft…

A handful of OOAK designs were chosen by a talented panel of designer judges.  The final winner would be announced at dinner that night.  Anticipation was high and this had to have been one of the most joyful events I have attended at a convention.  As you created, you chatted and joked with your tablemates and those of other tables.  It was such a fun and creative way to spend the morning with fellow collectors.

This was not the only creative challenge that would be asked of festival attendees.  At this unconventional challenge we were shown the doll we were all going to be customizing at another OOAK competition on Saturday.  To get us ready for this challenge, the festival held a workshop to show us some techniques

OOAK Doll Festival–A Sneak Peek at Live Auction

Just a note of explanation to start of the rest of the blog posts from this amazing festival.  Rogier and I work well together as a team.  For the past year I have reported for him while he was at European conventions and he has reported for me while I was attending the events in the US.  It is a brilliant system.  We learned quickly that when we are both attending the same event….not so brilliant of a system.  We apologize for the lateness of these reports as the festival ended less than a week ago but it was simply too busy to edit the images and report on events in a timely manner.  Added to that….I had to go and catch the plague.

Now that I can breath again without hacking up a lung, We can finally report on events.  Thank you all for being patient and understanding.

Now, at the opening gala of this festival, attendees were also able to view all of the amazing live auction items that would be available to bid on at Friday nights dinner.

A Sweet Sneak

Sooo…as many of you know Rogier of Dutch Fashion Doll WorldDutch Fashion Doll World and I are attending a special convention this week.  We are in the vibrant metropolis of New York City this week to attend the OOAK Festival.

One of the first places we visited upon arrival in this beautiful city was Ladurée.

© 2017 Inside The Fashion Doll Studio

Rogier, Hilda of Bellissima Couture and I all love this Pâtisserie .  It can come as no surprise that this was an inspiration for us as we collaborated on an auction item for this festival.

This festival has an amazing lineup of artists contributing auction items up for bid at the Friday night auction.

We have been given permission to share a sneak of our auction item for the blog readers!    You are getting to see this image even before the convention attendees!!

An Unexplained Absence….Explained

Hey all!  So many of you have noticed that I have been absent from the blog for a while.  The holidays were definitely one excuse but I have also been working on a big project that has taken a fair bit of my time.  The project is doll related!  Let me explain…

In a few days collectors from all over the world will be converging on the bustling metropolis of New York City for a very special doll convention.

©2017 OOAK Doll Festival

Crown Plaza Manhatten

And…as a bonus….my fellow blogger and dear friend Rogier Corbeau of Dutch Fashion Doll World and I will be attending and reporting from the event!!!  We will be posting on both blogs during all of the festivities so we can bring the experience to all who wish to participate.

As participants of this festival, Rogier, Hilda Westervelt of Bellissima Couture and I combined our efforts to produce a  One of a Kind item that will be up for auction at this event.  We will be excited to share the images of this project at the convention so stay tuned for that.  This project went beyond what any of us could have anticipated and we are all very excited to unveil our work.  It has taken a chunk of my time over the past 2 months though and explains my absence from blogging.  But believe me folks….it will be so worth the wait when you see the pictures of our finished project.

There will be many opportunities to obtain One of a Kind items at this festival and over 20 different artists are donating items that will be raffled off to attendees.  There will also be a live auction with some amazing entries from artists such as Magia 2000, Ninimomo, Carlyle Nuera and Mattel.  It’s sure to be an amazing event.  Please feel free to click on the festival logo above and read about all the particulars.

Also…note to all New Yorkers and surrounding area.  There will be a sales room open at this festival and…it will be open to the public!!  Public sales day is Saturday, February 18th from 1-5PM .  There are sure to be some amazing products available so if you have the time and interest…it might be worth a look and I believe it is free entry to check out the wares.  The sales room will be at:

Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan ( Broadway Ballroom Acts 3/4)
1605 Broadway
New York, NY 10019

The festival coordinators have been generous with Rogier and I.  They have sent us a few sneak peeks to share with you all of the Golden Ticket raffle dolls that will be available for attendees to win

Stay tuned to the blog for more information and photos from this amazing event.  Also, see what I have been making in my workshop to sell Winking smile

2017 WClub Registration Begins!!

©2017 Integrity Toys, Inc

While some other clubs {cough…BFC…cough} have deferred  their opening, Integrity Toys has just announced open enrollment for their 2017 WClub.  Integrity Toys never fails to pull out the goodies for their WClub and this year is no exception.

©2017 Integrity Toys, Inc

It would appear that the majority of members voted for a cream skin toned, raven haired Agnes.  This was actually my vote so I’m kind of stoked to see the actual product.  I have to admit…I am a little nervous about ordering a doll that I have only seen a sketch of but it is what I voted for so I’m in.

As David Buttry told us at the last IT convention, Poppy is headed to London in the 60’s.  This lady certainly embodies that!  I love that she has this lovely brown hair.  While the 60’s are not a time period that I like to collect fashion wise, I can still appreciate the design and aesthetics of this Poppy.  Love her white gloved hands and jaunty hat.  Thumbs up David!
