Here Comes the Bride–Poppy Parker Part 2

Yep…not done with the wedding theme yet.  I just love the Silkstone Barbie Wedding dress.  It has graced a good chunk of my collection over time and I swear it looks amazing on every single doll I have put it on.  I also added something I don’t usually have in my wedding shots…a groom.

Winking smile

Models:  Sweet Confection Poppy Parker and Most Beautiful Boy Auden

Bridal gown , veil and bouquet:  Marie Therese Silkstone Barbie

Groom’s tuxedo:  Twilight Breaking Dawn Pt 1 Edward

Set:  My new favorite…the cake candelabra painted silver on a candle holder.  Buyers Choice fence. The floral arrangement is a greenery ball on a candlestick with some paper roses thrown in.  Literally..that’s what it is.

Elise Jolie Styled in the Roaring 20’s

I was so looking forward to the Hope Diamond Barbie.  I loved the promo pictures of the red haired siren with the gorgeous 20’s inspired gown and jewelry.  I received her a couple of weeks ago and must say..I was underwhelmed.  I adore the gown and jewelry.  The doll…Meh.  I guess the biggest disappointment was her hair.  It was nothing like the promo’s .  In reality..it was a big hot mess.  I am fairly confident with fixing doll hair.  This…was beyond my expertise.  I am hoping that it was just my doll who had bad hair and that others received dolls with better hair.  Pictures from toy fair showed this lady with promo prefect hair.  I did not receive one of those.  So, time to make some lemonade out of this lemon.  I chose to repurpose the gown and jewelry right away.  The gown was a tight fit on an FR2 body but I managed to make it work….just barely.

Model:  FR2 “Dark Swan” Elise Jolie

Gown and jewelry: Hope Diamond Barbie

Set:  My white shelves set at an angle.  Statues I found at a small shop in Snohomish ( my favorite place to find props!).   Background is a graduated black to white background and I added a black acrylic floor.  I use this floor a lot because I adore the dramatic reflection it gives. There is a blue spot on the black background.  It is a small portable LED light that produced a white/blue light so it has colored the black background blue.

Here Comes The Bride….Poppy Parker–Part 1

About this time of year I seem to always have a letch to do a wedding photo shoot.  Last year it was Dark Swan Elise who became my muse.

For the Vintage Barbie Collector…Let’s Play Barbie

I am not a vintage Barbie collector but I certainly admire those who are.  You will not meet a more Barbie knowledgeable group than vintage Barbie collectors.  Mattel announced at Barbiecon that they would be releasing a Barbie reproduction set that would give you a choice of three different hair colors of a vintage reproduction Barbie and you would get 4 vintage reproduction outfits with it.  This set was a huge crowd favorite at the Mattel preview at convention and now it is finally available to order.  This set was designed by the very talented and fellow collector..Mattel’s Bill Greening.  The set retails for….ready for it….$175.00.  I guess you have to look at the fact you are getting 4 outfits and the doll in vintage reproduced packaging.   This price may put it out of many collectors price range but it sure does look like a fabulous set and a must have for any vintage reproduction collector.  I am considering this set.

Ayumi Arrives

This lovely lady was an Integrity Toys IDEX and WClub lottery exclusive and thanks to one of the best doll buddies a girl can have, I was able to purchase one.  Her face is porcelain delicate and the hairdo is unbelievably intricate.  There are a number of peach ribbons running through the braided chignon.  Beautiful!  Her gown is pure Jason Wu.  Yummy!

The Royal Couple

Okay…raise your hand if you got up super early in the morning to watch the royal wedding last year.  I know I did…or rather I set the television to record it.  I think it is fair to say most everyone loves a good wedding.  When you add in “Royal”, it adds a whole other dimension to the mix.  There was the wild speculation about the gown.  There were the royals.  And…there were the hats.  It was only a matter of time before they were made into the perfect Barbie and Ken right?  I had no idea this was coming but should have given the popularity of the royal wedding.   It is my understanding that this is a new face mold for Ken and It looks like a good resemblance to the real Prince William.  The Duchess Kate doll is lovely but looks to be more of a “ Barbie as…” representation.  The set  is said to retail for $100 and is set to be released around their one year anniversary in April.  Awwwww!  How romantic.

New Silkstone Sneak Peek…and a little more

Mattel released photos of a new 2012 BFMC Evening Gown Silkstone that will be available later this year.  She is a beautiful AA in a gorgeous pink and white confection of a gown.

And….. I have heard from multiple sources that this is a sketch of another Silkstone coming in the fall of this year.

It’s a redhead in yellow gown with grey accents and grey gloves!!!  I believe this is indeed the doll that was sneaked in the picture with the drafting table that I blogged about in January( https://insidethefashiondollstudio.com/2012/01/20/an-inside-look-at-robert-bests-2012-bfmc-world/ ).  AHHHHHH!  I am in complete and total love.  Putting my preorder in for these lovelies as I type this.

Possible inspiration for this gown??? –Dior Spring 2011 Couture.

W Club Giselle Exclusive!

Wow!  Integrity Toys is really pulling out all the stops this year.  I have been a W Club member for the last four years and have never seen so many amazing things coming from Integrity this early in the year.  We received a plethora of information on new dolls from IDEX a few short weeks ago and now the W Club members have the chance to win the opportunity to buy a limited exclusive raven haired Giselle.  She has a hat…so that means I want her LOL!  To be honest…I know there are a few devoted Giselle face mold collectors out there and I really hope you guys get her first…that is only fair.  If this lady were a Poppy, FR2 or a Monogram…I know you all would wish the same for me.

This is  being called a “European Exclusive” and is going through LaureBelle Couture(http://www.laurebellecouture.com/)…. but don’t try to contact them to get this exclusive…it’s lottery only…through the W Club.   Not quite sure why it is being touted as a “European Exclusive” .  To me this looks just like a W Club lottery .  The doll is beautiful and she comes with a variety of shoes and accessories.  This gets her labeled as a  “Giftset”.

Good Morning fashion doll fans.  This is a morning that many Barbie collectors have waited for.  Registration for the Barbie Fan Club (BFC) 2012 begins today at 9:00AM PST.  There is an important piece if information that I neglected to share with my first post about this a few weeks back.

Current BFC members can reregister beginning at 9:00AM PST 2/08/12.  If  you are not a current member, all remaining spots will be open for registration on 2/15/12.

So, if you are a current BFC member today is the first day you can register.  There is no question for me.  I am registering at 9:00AM PST or very soon thereafter.  Can’t wait to get the club doll this year.

Dania Zarr..a Real Star!

I have to admit, it took me a while to warm up to this face mold.  The very cut angles of her face can give her a masculine feel in my opinion but the latest iteration Integrity Toys did of her is..in a word…STUNNING.  Thanks to a really great doll friend, I was able to get a ticket to purchase Bare Essentials “Day” Dania Zarr at the Fashion Royalty Convention this past year.  I love her face, hair and new body ( a vampire doll body I believe…not as busty as the Fashion Royalty line).  She is a dream to restyle and I had to pull out the macro lens for this beauty as her face really is something else.  Added to this beautiful doll, I was able to procure a white Joe Tai gown off of ebay.  I am also excited about finally purchasing a De-Zyns by Joy jewelry set ( after drooling over her things for quite a while…finally broke down and bought).  Oh..and the chairs!!  LOVE them.  Found them on ebay..see my source list for the link.

Models:  Bare Essentials “ Day” Dania Zarr and 007 James Bond Ken

Gown:  Joe Tai

Jewelry:  De-Zyns by Joy ( http://de-zynsbyjoy.com/ )

Set:  Wall panel by me.  Flooring is miniature flooring paper.  Candelabra…now that is a story…pewter candlestick with a new find.  It’s called a cake candelabra.  I need to spray paint it silver but I was so excited to use the thing I just threw it in there ‘as is’ LOL!  I think the scale works well here.  They are approx. $8.99 on various sites. Chairs are from Ebay ( http://stores.ebay.com/The-DIY-Dollhouse-Center?_rdc=1).  They sell a number of different 1:6 scale items.  All shipped very fast and well packaged.
