An Inside Look at Robert Best’s 2012 BFMC World?
Here are a few interesting photos that might give us all a better feel for the direction of the BFMC this year. They are available at http://ph8442.com/site/2012/01/issue-2/
** Photos are property of Mattel, Inc.**
Here are a few of the shots….
Oh my word!!! If only one could have this set for their own collection. I WOULD DIE! Now….have to figure out how to make my own studio. Audrey…if you are reading this…can you rustle up a few of those french doors for me??!! Are the sketches on the little drafting table a clue to something else coming this year? I swear I see a redhead in a a gold dress. Wish I could see the details better. Are there any clues on that clothing rack? What about the dress the model above is wearing? Let the speculation begin….and she is off and running folks.

I know! I can’t wait for the toy fair sneaks. This is exactly what I love in Silkstones.

I completely agree Vanessa! I am really looking forward to seeing what else Mr. Best has for us this year.

This is just too dreamy for words. I think that the atelier theme has already been hinted at by the gift of a fashion mannequin for joining the club. Perhaps more is coming?

Oh pretty please with a cherry on top. I hope to see more amazing designs from Mr. Best at Toy Fair. I love that they are gifting a mannequin with membership. That will be perfect for showing off your beautiful fashions!!

I’m so glad Mr. Best is going back to designing clothes with a stylist 1940s-1950s flare. I love my Silkstones and can’t wait to add all the new Silky Barbies to my collection. And yes it would be great to own the design studio. I wonder what they do with all the great props they use in the pictures once they are through photographing them? Do you know Rebecca? LMB…Love My Barbies!

I am in total agreement with you Ralph. I could not be happier with the direction Mr. Best is taking this year. I almost hyperventilated when I saw the club doll…I mean is is right off the Dior runway with a hat!!! I know that many of the props you see in these photos have been used in previous photos and I suspect we will be seeing the props again in future photos. Mattel has the envy of all fashion doll photographers when it comes to their prop room. There was a glimpse into it in an FDQ article a number of years ago. It would be a dream for me to just be able to sit in the corner and watch their photographers work.

At the top of this site, it says, “Inside the Fashion Doll Studio” Barbie for big girls. Remember us big boys love her & your site too. ;}

My bad Ralph! You are absolutely correct. It should read Barbie for big kids but test results showed that the tag line ” Barbie for Big Girls” garnered a bigger response.

Wouldn’t it be cool if this hinted at Robert Best Ken! There could be a gift set, a la Zac Posen.
