Many collectors show up days in advance of the actual start of convention to take part in room shopping and to participate in the One of A Kind (OOAK) parties by various artists. There is a rich and varied pool of artists that repaint and redress Barbie in haute couture. It’s one of my favorite parts of convention to be honest and I was honored to be allowed to photograph many of the shows. I apologize in advance for the shows I did not cover…namely Ninimomo. There were simply not enough hours in the day and too many amazing artists to photograph. I encourage you to scrounge the internet to find images of Nick and Marie’s amazing creations. They are not to be missed.
I have put the full set of images on my Flickr ( you can find the link on my sidebar…too the right on your screen) I have included a few of my favorite shots here.
The collection was sublime as always. Such a pleasure to see and be able to photograph these lovely pieces of art.
This year the talented duo of Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi payed tribute to the history of Barbie. They reimagined all the famous and popular looks of Barbie from her 1959 beginnings up through the current day. It was a thorough and imaginative collection with some truly stellar examples of couture Barbie.

Another show that many collectors will show up early to ensure they won’t miss these works of art.
So many artist dolls to enjoy and photograph!! My cup runneth over Again, if you want to see the full set of images, head over to my flickr. All photos from the OOAK parties will be there by end of the day.
After presentations were over this afternoon, there was one workshop put on by the talented member of Artist Creations Guiseppe de Bellis
Then it was time for the really big party…The Gala Dinner!!! Here are a few images from the dessert table.

So, Gala dinner is happening right now. We should have images of convention doll very soon. As I write this, Rogier is sending me videos of some major dancing going on…Bollywood style. LOVE. What a fantastic party!!
The next show of the evening was the show of Artist Creations.
Alessandro and Giuseppe brought a diverse and colorful collection to Jacksonville.
Here is the beauty they created for the silence auction.
The conventioneers loved the collection and they sold out in no-time.
This will be my last Paris Fashion Doll Festival report as I finish up my stint of co-blogging with Dutch Barbie World. As I finish up this blog post, Rogier is making his way back home with a lot of goodies he picked up at the festival. I am sure he will give us his overall impressions when he has a chance to unpack and unwind. I hope you all have enjoyed these R&R ( Rogier and Rebecca…perhaps a new blog down the road LOL!) reports.
There was a final Sybarite offering from Superdoll Saturday and those intrepid enough to get up super early and stand in line, were able to get her. She had an edition size of 30. Very limited indeed. Her name is Meringue.
The last event of this Paris festival was the sales room and by the look of Rogier’s photos, there was much to look at and choose from. Many OOAK artists came to show off their talents. There were two offerings from the popular 16 inch doll line Numina
And a large group of beautiful OOAKs from Artist Creations
And much much more…
You can find more photos on Rogier’s Flickr page. That wraps it up for me. Thank you Rogier, for taking us along on this fantastic journey!! It has been an honor and a pleasure to guest/co-blog with you! Safe travel home my friend.
The Italian Doll Convention is a little over a week away and they are auctioning off some stunning OOAK’s to help support a local charity. 100% of the profits from these auctions will go to Casa Oz, a non profit organization that helps provide care to seriously ill children and their families. Here are just a few of the amazing items up for auction.

For the whole list of auction items available, go to Italian Doll Convention Ebay auctions. Also, for a much more comprehensive write-up on these auction items, head on over to Rogier’s blog at http://dutchbarbieworld.wordpress.com/2013/05/13/charity-auction-italian-doll-convention/
Tuesday was a packed day of OOAK parties. First up was Artist Creations
This is their auction doll
Next up was Ninimomo These are quick shots with my point and shoot. I was given the extreme pleasure of photographing the show before it opened to the public and will have those shots up later this week. Thank you Nick and Marie!!!
Ninimomo’s auction dolls
And their raffle dolls
The last show of the day was Magia2000. They staged an honest to God fashion show for the dolls. While very long, the show was fun. They also handled purchasing differently this year. You put your name in a lottery if you were interested in a doll and if your name was selected, you had the chance to purchase the doll. I was not lucky enough to win the chance to purchase but many others were!
Ones I would have given a kidney to purchase….okay not really but still LOL!

More photos available on my flickr. Today is the official start to the convention. Things will be super hectic from here on out so blogging will be more difficult. If I don’t post in the morning….it means I was up too late the night before and I won’t even go into why that would be LOL! The blog post will come I promise…just perhaps not so reliably.
Tuesday was definitely the day for OOAK unveilings. Magia2000, Ninimomo and Artist Creations all had their parties within hours of each other. It was a challenge to make it to all of them not to mention I was volunteering during some of the time too. Thank you all for your patience in waiting for updates and photos. I had such great plans of posting photos and blogging while at convention. You know what they say about best laid plans. Oh well…. perhaps I will be better organized next year.
The last party of the day was Artist Creations and they did not disappoint. I must say these was the most exquisite work I have ever seen them do.
The raffle doll for Artist Creations was gorgeous and sadly I did not win it…booohoo. But, it did go to a lovely Barbie friend and I am sooooo excited for her.
