Riviera Drama Revealed!!
Back in February, one of the WClub membership dolls was revealed in sketch form. Yesterday, her promo shots were revealed and it had many WClub members clapping their hands with joy. You can read about the how this doll came to be here. It’s an interesting way to decide on a club doll. And here she is!
I am feeling an Elie Saab vibe here…the picture below is from his 2017 Resort collection. The fact that he used wedge shoes also with this look makes me think this was one of the inspirations for this look.
So…how do I feel about this reveal? I love the facial screening! Green eyes on a pale skinned raven Agnes…yummm! Also kind of happy they went with the nude lip. It feels very on trend for right now. This also makes her infinitely more re-dressable. I am thrilled that the jumpsuit isn’t black. I think jewel tones definitely fit with the “Riviera” theme. I adore the jewelry! What concerns me is the fabric shown. I don’t know if it flows like the original design does. It looks kind of stiff to me but then…that could just be the image and how the model is posed. Also…what is with this purse? Did they want to go for Christmas colors? I don’t think I would have chosen red. I may be in a minority here but I like the wedge shoes. It’s more casual and we don’t have shoes like this so if I want to dress this outfit up, I can certainly find a pair of black strappy sandals in my IT box. Also, I am hoping the hair isn’t too “crunchy” as in…stiff. It looks like it might be though. It does help with those annoying flyaways that I end up editing out in PS later anyway

I love this Agnes too !! Beautiful make up color palette and hair.
Not easy to photograph Agnes in the “Gumby” green jumpsuit though. Red clutch is definitely not ideal as you mentioned, Rebecca.
And lastly, never love a wedge shoe 😛

LOL!! Okay, okay…keep in mind I have a ballerina in the house and am preoccupied with proper foot support. We are a wedge shoe house 😉

I’m happy I decided to take a chance on her, the hair and makeup are great. I was really hoping we didn’t get another red lipped Agnes so I’m pleased with the nude lip too. As soon as I opened my email I shook my head at that purse. Isn’t this the Riviera she’s visiting? not the North Pole. Xmas immediately popped into my head too. I hope they see enough comments along those lines and change it. Otherwise, I’ll just switch it out for something more suitable that I probably already have. Maybe it’s my monitor and it’s really a reddish/coral shade so it will look okay IRL. I agree with the material choice being too stiff, those pants should be more flowing.

Yes, I definitely think collectors gambled on won on this one!

I agree-am disappointed with the choice of a red bag with green, which completely channels Christmas, not very fashion-forward. And the fabric does appear cheap and not at all flowing…hope to be wrong about this.

Right there with you Marsha 😉

Agree with you across the board — I particularly don’t like overly stiff hairstyles, unless it’s an up-do. It’s hard to get drape in this scale, so even with a lightweight fabric, it would be difficult to achieve the flow of the runway look you included. I have more issue with the color — not keen on it at all. And also puzzled by the Christmas color scheme. Adore the screening.

Thanks for the input from someone much more familiar with fabric and draping. I am sensing there will be some redressing with this one.

I think the fabric choice has to do with making sure it doesn’t get crushed in the packaging. It should be heavy crepe or silk fabric perhaps, but some of those don’t travel well and can be very expensive. They also have to choose a fabric that is colour fast, like polyester perhaps. Wouldn’t do if you took her jumpsuit off to find her green underneath.

Ohhh…excellent point Julie! I had not thought of that. 🙂

I love her look and the outfit, although at this scale getting anything to flow is hard, maybe with a fine modal or jersey the fabric would have fallen against her legs better and floated around at the bottom. Even better would be a modal underlay with a pure silk chiffon overlay, the silk would fall against the jersey and voila, you have drape!! LOL The doll would coast twice as much too! hugs

Love it when we get comments from a much more experienced modiste in the community. It’s always the case isn’t it…the tradeoff between quality and price. Hopefully this one will have hit the right balance.

Hey Rebecca
I think she is DIVINE! I gave up Intimate Reveal Agnes for this one so I was HOPING she would be amazing and I wasnt disappointed! She is everything I wanted even the Emerald Green and those EYES!

Love your enthusiasm Kevin! We all look forward to her arrival this summer.

Gorgeous doll. Love everything about her. As with most IT dolls, she will likely look much better in real than in the promo pics too. I am also pretty sure the material of her jumpsuit will be soft and it can be achieved in this scale. See Adorned Vanessa.

Good point about Adorned Vanessa! We will all await her arrival to see how it all works out 😉
