Barbie for big girls.

Simply Simpatico Poppy and Darla

It took me a bit of time to warm up to this Fashion Royalty Convention collection gift set.  My tastes in collecting do not run towards the mod era so the clothing for many of the convention collection offerings were not what I prefer.  I decided to play around with this gift set and see what I could do as far as redressing and restyling.  I just love it when I find a diamond in the rough with a doll.  That is what this Poppy and Darla are for me.  I restyled the bangs and dressed Ms. Poppy in a  favorite Bogue’s Vogues and now I LOVE her.   Ms. Darla took a trip to Boutique de Bogue as well and I am really appreciating the new face sculpt on her.

  1. They both look lovely.
However, your styling on Darla is superb!
I really like the new facemold on her and that hair is the best I’ve seen on her 🙂
    Love the dresses too.
    Always impeccable my dear.

    • Thank you so much Jon! Coming from a master stylist, this is indeed a compliment. I love Darla’s new face mold too…she just NEEDED to be free of those vest and pants. 😉

  5. Rebecca, I squealed when I saw them, especially Darla! They look so wonderful in James’ dresses and how you have styled them. So glad you are posting again…I was going into withdrawal! I need my fix of fabulousness!

    • Heeehee! Thank you dear Hilda. I squeel every time I see one of your lovely new fashions. It may be some time inbetween blog posts for a while…time for holiday decorating and …of course…Nutcracker ballet rehearsals. I hope to be photographing dress rehearsal for that so perhaps I will share a few shots.

Gorgeous and another post from you is always a treat! Darla reminds me of Violet Waters for some reason dressed like this. And Poppy is lil’ heart breaker! Gorgeous redresses and restyling them to suit your taste and collection! 🙂 ❤ you! Matty

    • Thank you so much Matty! I just love when a simple restyle can transform a doll. I just love these ladies to bits now that I have redressed them. I totally see Violet Waters in Darla now that you pointed it out.

  8. I love all fashion styles from the 1920s until the present. I do love the Mod Era Style of clothes, but my favorites come from 1930 to 1950. Womens fashions were so classy and sophistcated then. I do not know how these dolls looked before you re-styled them but they do look glamorous now. I do wish there had been a before and after picture of both dolls. But the results are fantastic and I would love to have them in my collection. Thanks again for taking the time to share your lovely dolls and pictures. Please keep them coming.

    • Thank you Ralph! It is always a pleasure to get your comments. I agree with you. Fashions from the 50’s are my particular favorite as well. I should have included a shot of the before restyle …good idea for next time I restyle. I was so anxious to get them out of the mod era clothing that I just ripped those clothes off as soon as I deboxed LOL!

    • Awwww! Thank you Debra! I was so excited photographing these ladies redressed. I just love how a restyle and/or some new clothes can transform a doll for me. Doesn’t happen with every doll but with these it did. I am glad you liked them.

    • Thank you! I am glad you liked the photos. I always love to show a hidden side to a doll that may not get much notice the first time around. I am glad you are keeping your set. Hope you enjoy.
