Gala Dior
I almost always love a redhead in a green dress. Most people do and there are aesthetic and photography reasons for this…see upcoming blog post this next week. I recently took receipt of the most exquisite green dress from my dear friend Hilda of Bellissima Couture. She patterned it off of a Dior gown from the 1950’s as seen here in this iconic 1957 Life magazine photo

I had to find the perfect model for it and who better than my muse o’ the moment…Gala Gown.
Model: Gala Gown Barbie® Doll
Gown and hat: Bellissima Couture
Necklace and gloves: Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

a pretty color and a nice silhouette for the skirt. The hat has humor and dash

Thank you! That hat is certainly a statement isn’t it?! I went back and forth on the black background on this one but decided to keep it and change the lighting to highlight the hat. Glad it worked 🙂

Thank you so much Rich. I am with you…I LOVE well done 1/6 recreations of real fashions. When you add Dior into that equation…I am in heaven.

Simply divine!! Gala Gown looks absolutely stunning in Hilda’s gorgeous gown and that hat too! (I coveted this amazing Dior recreation when I saw Hilda release it on her site) The combination of the green of the gown and Gala’s red hair is so striking. I also love the choice of jewelry and overall styling – bravissimo!!

Thank you so much Lisa! It is so easy to style one of Hilda’s creations…you get lost in the beauty of it all.

Oooh! That dress is sublime!! Bravo Bellissima Couture and bravo Rebecca for your lovely styling and photography. I do have one burning question… how well will the ‘sister’ fashion of ‘Blush Becomes Her’ photograph next to it? Surely the though must have crossed your mind? Oh yeah, I’m sending a huge nudge. 😀

Thank you Pam! I did consider doing a tandem shoot with the Silkstone fashion but quickly discarded the idea ( see 2/20/2013 blogpost for main reason why). I adore the Blush Becomes Her fashion and was considering just using the hat with the green dress but the big flower hat just kept pulling me to it. It is the hat that Hilda put with this gown originally so it just felt right. There may be a few photos coming up ( my lips are sealed….) with these two fashions in the same shot. To be continued…….
