BFMC Fashionably Floral Has Arrived!
Don’t walk to get this one people….RUN! For $50 this Silkstone is an absolute steal.
Fashionably Floral™ Barbie® Doll

The liner in the box is a soft pink! Adorable.
The new tags have pink lettering instead of blue…nice touch.
Hair is slightly different than promo shots. The hair comes into a curl closer towards the face on the production doll. I advise that you be very, very careful when removing the hair net from the chignon on this one. While it is nice that the chignon is not glued into lacquer hardness, it does mean that it can be messed up fairly easily. I decided to just sacrifice the hairnet and cut it off little by little. I then applied some hairspray and gel to keep things in place. All in all, not too bad.
Does that hat come curled like this you ask?? Nope. Want to know how I did it?
Just curl it inside a toilet paper roll for a couple hours. You will need to switch it around from one side to the other a couple times so both sides curl evenly.
She is a beauty!! Well worth the $50 in my opinion. I can’t wait to redress and photograph this lady.

Thank you for these amazing photos! I have been wondering about the hair thing (am new to all this) so hairspray can be used on their hair? And gel? Can you recommend types of hairspray and gels and the best way to apply? Thank you again for sharing this lovely! I am waiting for mine! Can’t wait!

Hi smittenwithb,
I am glad you enjoyed the photos. Yes, hairspray and other hair care products can be used on doll hair but you have to be careful. The hairspray can effect the face paint so cover the face when applying spray. I apply gel with a flat edged brush ( nothing fancy, I think I use an inexpensive paint brush from one of my kids painting sets). As far as brands go, I don’t use any specific brand. When I use hairspray, I make sure it is a fine mist kind. I think L’Oreal has an ultra fine mist one. Check here on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/LOreal-Studio-Perfect-Ultra-Fine-Unisex/dp/B0017T5562
Hope you get yours soon. She is a beauty 🙂

Thank you so much, I will give it a go! I have a repro doll that I will try it on first (I rinsed her hair to try to get rid of her ‘helmet hair’ look). I love your blog btw! Have a great one!

Thank you for your wonderful site. Love how you keep us all informed on the dolls.
And I plan to try your suggestions on my Ellowyne Feeling Drained Three mink wig.
The one pin curl on it is perfect but the other needs a little help. Also never stop giving
us your fantastic Poppy photos. I love buying ooak fashions for mine. And I also snap her
picture and save them to my Kindle. Always fun to look back at them. My three Silkstones
are also fun to dress-up especially red head lingerie. We do spoil our ladies.

Too bad that AGAIN the doll is not the same as the proto pics. The chignon looks very sad compared to what they promised. Hat won’t be too much trouble for me either, I make hats, so I also know the ‘steam trick’ to speed the shaping a little more. Could even make a nicer hat, LOL.

Yeah…it can be frustrating when a promo shot doesn’t match the production doll in a way you are expecting it to. I learned long ago that depending on a promo shot would invariably set me up for disappointment. While the hairstyle may not be exactly what the promo shot shows, I still think it works well. For $50 ,”steam trick” or not, I still feel like it is a good deal. 🙂

Oh, she is gorgeous, Rebecca!! I will have to get her when I can afford to!! (I am currently looking at new furniture). Thank you for your hat tip trick!! Never thought of that……..I have some beach hats that came with swim suit sets that I need to do that to. Thanks for sharing!! And thank you so much for giving us your thoughts about all of the latest dolls out there – and, of course, your lovely close up shots on what the dolls REALLY look like when they arrive. 🙂 I always look forward to your latest blog. What a helpful sweetie you are!! Hugs!! Debi

Your photos and comments are making my previous decision to pass on her. The price *is* extremely reasonable for a Silkstone. Hmmm…
