Barbie for big girls.

The Journey

As many of you know, I have just returned from a month of traveling.  It was the most amazing trip with my family and for a few glorious weeks some dear friends.  The memories made during those travels are priceless and the new perspective I bring back with me every time I journey out of my own country is such a gift to me.  I feel richer emotionally than when I left and so appreciative for all that I have seen, experienced and learned.  My hope is that I can bring this into the pictures that I take.

For this set of photos, one of my new arrivals Ms. Splendid Jordan has just returned from a journey of her own.  I wish I had her luggage…..

All of life is a journey which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.”

Wishing everyone a safe and happy journey today Smile

Rebecca – love this series of shots. You have an incredible ability to make your dioramas look real instead of posed. Love the shoes in front of the trunk – how many ladies have a pair looking like that in their own closet? Fabulousness…as always.

    • Thank you so much Susan!! My goal is always to get a realistic as I can. I am glad I am achieving that. Exactly…my shoes are never stacked neatly, they are always thrown into the floor of my closet 🙂

  3. Can’t stop staring at her! She looks wonderful and chic. She spreads exceptional atmosphere around her. Her jewels, luggage, black fur coat, martini glass… All the things impress me luxury.
You’re great photographer, Rebecca. You make your dolls alive on shots. And what’s more important, every shot has own story, something, what I can feel during looking over your fabulous photos.
You had a great time on your journey. 🙂 People usually realise, how beautiful country they live in, only when they go through like tourists.

    • Wowzers Lilly! You know how to give a compliment don’t you?! I know what story I have in my head when I am shooting these photos. It is always such a joy to hear that others have heard and followed that story. It is really one of the best compliments I could get. Thank you!

Darn it, now I’m buying her because of your pics! I have so many more dolls because of your marvelous photo shoots and to be perfectly honest, I’ll never be able to make them look nearly as good as you do! Maybe I could start purchasing some of your pictures and a few less dolls? That could save me some cash! I also want this trunk now! Fooey! Your website is the most dangerous for me because I have your same taste, but not your same talent to execute it into beautiful art. Very well done….again!
ps- can you make a doll look just a little hideous once and a while? Just on a rare occasion so I know you aren’t perfect and I can say, “I’ll pass on her” once in a while while viewing your site? I mean you already have me buying barbie again and I didn’t think that was possible!

    • LOL! Oh stop! You really know how to compliment a girl now don’t you. 🙂 Believe me…there are plenty of photos on the cutting room floor after a photo shoot to which I say ” Well…that one will never see the light of day…what the heck was I thinking?!!” The prerogative of a blogger is to only put their best efforts forward. Seriously though…if you are buying the dolls, you don’t need the photos right?. You have the fabulous original in hand. My goal is always to bring the best forward of what that doll can be. Sometimes a doll just doesn’t appeal to me right away and I love it when I fall in love with a doll through the lens of my camera. See, I do it too 🙂 I am also constantly inspired by my fellow collectors and the photos they share. This community is so supremely rich in creativity and the willingness to share it. They (you) are also willing to support it with encouragement and kind words. That keeps me doing what I do. You have my personal “Thanks” for that. 🙂
