Barbie for big girls.

After Convention–The Doll Hangover

I have run into this before with the National Barbie Convention so I have some experience with it.  I must say though, the hangover from the Fashion Royalty Convention was and is…MAJOR.  I think with Barbie conventions in the past, I have always had to ship my loot home so there was a delay between the actual convention and when I received all the goodies at home.  This time, I was smart and packed a duffel bag for my clothing and was able to pack all the dolls in my suitcase.  I am a deboxer so I had the luxury of deboxing at the hotel and having room to pack everything and take it home immediately.  The instant gratification of all that convention swag was a dolly high such as I had never experienced before.  I’m still reeling. Winking smile

Here is the third day’s accumulation picture.

Now add in Day one and Day two…….

And here is the resulting doll explosion when I arrived home.  Each item was removed from the suitcase and shared with my daughter….a show and tell of my convention experience.

And when we had exceeded the capacity of the Family Room, it spilled into the kitchen as well.

How on earth did I manage to get all this home??!!  Sometimes it’s just better to accept and not ask LOL!

Love it! It always looks like a bomb went off when we get home.

In the cheesy disco song “Love Hangover” by Diana Ross, she sings “I’ve got the sweetest hangover, I don’t wanna get over.” Very true post-convention too!

    • LOL! You are so right Peter….it’s a hangover I don’t wanna get over. I need to pace myself and be ready for next July. 😉

  2. Oh boy, this brings it all back! I love how the loot spreads from one room to the next. My house is looking similar and I got only a fraction of what you got lol! When does the convention collection arrive? You may have to build that doll room annex we talked about.

It was dolly overload for sure. I was only able to get about 1/4 of my convention stuff home with me because my suitcase was already pretty full when I left home. I managed to ship two of my boxes late Saturday night, and two had to be taken on the airline early the next morning for an additional $135.00 ($35.00 for the first small box and $100 for the second small box). Ugh. Nevertheless, the reason I went to this convention was because I had a feeling the swag would be plentiful. Which brings a very personal meaning to the expression: Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

    • Heehee…I don’t think we are one bit upset about our having to ship stuff back…although I am upset at the excess baggage fees the airlines charge these days ..HIGHWAY ROBBERY!
