The Hollywood Issue

I am a subscriber to Vanity Fair.  Every year, before the Oscar’s, they have an issue called “The Hollywood Issue”.   I am always impressed with the cover photography of these issues and never fail to feel inspired after viewing it.  Last year, I was inspired to do my own cover and this is what I ended up with.

This year, I was inspired to try another one and Integrity Toys’ newly revamped Fashion Royalty products were my muses.

  2. Very nice!! I thought about sewing an “On the Red Carpet” gown to sell on my blog. But never quite got to it. I sew so slowly that I will never make it in time now…..Oh, well. Maybe next year. Love all of your scenes, dolls, their fashions and your photography. Wish you lived closer to me. I would want you to do my photo shoots of the fashions I design. Lol That would give me more time to just sew!! Have fun watching all of the new gowns on the red carpet on Oscar night!! I know I will. 🙂

I would love to do a VF cover using my celeb dolls, did you photoshop the cover? How did you did the magazine lettering?

    February 22, 2014 at 5:21 pm

    • I did use Photoshop to do the cover and used a font that was very similar to what Vanity Fair uses but not exactly. They own the font they use for the magazine…it was designed for the magazine and they own the copyright.

  6. Hi! It’s me again. I happened to mention your Vanity Fair cover to my husband at dinner tonight, Rebecca. He wanted me to ask you if you had gotten permission to use the Vanity Fair name? Just wondering……isn’t their magazine name copyrighted?

    February 22, 2014 at 8:58 pm

    • This is a good question and one that I considered before I posted last years photo. If I were starting up a doll magazine with the name Vanity Fair or attempting to sell prints of this picture, I think Vanity Fair would definitely have a problem with it. This is a spoof/tribute magazine cover. I will never sell prints of this photo nor will I have it in a book. I am not using the same font just one that is similar. I am not attempting to profit from it but if the publishers had a problem with this photo, I would of course remove it.

      • O.K., just thought we would bring that point up with you. We figured you had probably thought of that since you pointed out that you have all of your own photos copyrighted. 🙂 Still love your spoof/tribute magazine cover!! Great idea and hope that you will continue to do one every year – unless Vanity Fair sees it and has a problem with it, of course!!

        E-mail me sometime – debi@drlik.net

And thanks so much for being a subscriber to my own blog!! 🙂

Beautiful picture (as always)! The only thing I miss on it is a beautiful Evening in Montreal Victoire 🙂 She would fit perfectly on this glamorous scene! I guess she arrived a little bit too late 🙂 Well I’m sure we’ll see some gorgeous pictures of her pretty soon 🙂

    February 26, 2014 at 7:50 am

    • Thank you Andreja! You are correct…Ms. Victoire did not arrive until after this shoot was done…but you should be happy with the post I put up today. It is all about Ms. Victoire 🙂
